Rubber sealing ring used to seal the Fuel Tank sender unit. These rings should be replaced after replacing the sender unit or repairing the petrol tank.
It is also worth checking and replacing this item if there is a smell of petrol in the boot, particularly if such a smell is noticeable after refulleing. Whilst petrol smell in the boot is often indicative of rust pin holing in the bottom of the tank it might be solved by just replacing a tired sealing ring.
